For more than 70 years the staff has offered caring and personal assistance to families, initially from the Canterbury Crematorium and Woodlawn Memorial Gardens situated on Linwood Avenue, which features a distinctive art deco Chapel. Later expanding to include the Harewood Memorial Gardens & Crematorium on Johns Road which boasts an architecturally award winning Chapel designed by Sir Miles Warren. Funeral Services may be amplified in our air conditioned Chapels and through to the foyers where there is ample standing room and screens for ease of viewing. Including an audiovisual element in a service is possible however with constant advancements in technology, we recommend you discuss your requirements with your Funeral Director or contact our Chapel office prior to the funeral service to determine what can be accommodated. Our Harewood Chapel has an adjoining reception lounge which offers a spacious area where family and friends can gather and talk over refreshments. The selection is freshly made each day, with our caterer happy to accommodate specific dietary requests. Each Chapel is surrounded by beautifully tended gardens where Memorials are established in perpetuity offering a wide range of styles, location, planting and price. Once a memorial has been completed, families have the opportunity to attend the interment of ashes. The guardianship of each loved ones resting place is safely in the care of the Cremation Society’s committed staff. Open to the public every day the extensive gardens are a tranquil place which offers a focal point for significant anniversaries. Memorial pre-arrangement offers certainty that individuals’ wishes are recorded. Experienced staff provides guidance to make the memorial planning process simple and straightforward. The historical cremation records are readily available and a rich source of information for those keen to research their family tree. The administration staff are also pleased to assist family who find that for various reasons a loved ones cremated remains have been left in our care for a prolonged period and now wish to establish a memorial.
